Changing legal perceptions, both national and international, have necessitated a relook at the existing pattern of legal education all over the world. The emergence of law schools / law universities in India, has substantially improved the quality of legal education. No institution of higher learning is complete without Law Curriculum on its campus. GITAM, an Institution with 38 years of glorious journey, with multi-disciplinary, multi-faculty orientation, conceived the idea of starting a law school, matching some of the outstanding national law universities in India.
The need for highly skilled legal professionals to adorn the Bar, Bench and Corporate sector is imperative and perennial. It is to realize this dream that, GITAM Deemed to be University established the School of Law from the academic year 2012-13 with two programs, viz., 5 year integrated B.A., LL.B., (Hons.) & B.B.A., LL.B., (Hons). B.Com., LL.B., (Hons.) (Subject to BCI approval) and 1 Year LL.M. in Corporate Law, IPR and Cyber Law (International Law) The Ph.D program both Full Time and Part Time was started in the year 2019-20.
Centre for Innovation & IPR (CIIPR) was started for offering research in contemporary areas and IP facilitation for start ups and industries.
It is a matter of pride that Career 360 Degrees, a reputed monthly magazine, has ranked our Law School as 11th among India’s Best Law Colleges and one among 100 best Law Institutes across India, which is the true testimony of our academic strength in legal education. GSL continued in the same vein and was ranked amongst the top 25 private Law Colleges of India by “Education Post” the leading magazine on education and development in India.
