NABARD Grade A (RDBS) Phase I 2017 Exam Analysis August 05, 2017



National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) conducted online examination for the recruitment of Assistant Manager (RDBS) in Grade ‘A’ across the country on 5th August, 2017.

There were 200 questions, which had to be answered in 120 minutes. There were seven sections, divided into two parts.

Part I: Reasoning, English Language, Computer Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness

Part II: Economic & Social Issues and Agriculture & Rural Development

All the other sections, except the English Language section, were available bilingually, that is, in both English and Hindi. Each question had 5 options and was of 1 mark each. There was a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.

Detailed breakdown of individual sections is as follows:

Economic and Social Issues

Most of the questions in this section were based on Government Committees, Economic Policies, Budget, Social Issues and Banking. This section was of moderate difficulty level. An overall attempt of 15 - 20 questions can be considered a good attempt.

Agriculture and Rural Development

Most of the questions in the section were based on the Agrigulture and Animal Husbandry. Questions were based on Types of Soils, Seeds, Ploughing, Names of Crop Varieties, Poultry, etc. An overall attempt of 15 - 20 questions can be considered as a good attempt.

Reasoning

This section primarily saw easy to moderate level of questions. A student should have attempted at least 18 questions. The questions were not time consuming. There were questions on Blood Relation, Word formation, Data Arrangement and Sitting Arrangement as well as coding – decoding, etc.

English Language

This section contained questions on topics such as Fill in the blanks, Reading Comprehension, Phrase Replacement, Cloze Test and Error Spotting. In the Fill in the blank section, the candidate had to select the correct answer choice which would satisfy the two given sentences. The Reading Comprehension passage was based on the topic of agriculture. The passage contained a case study on agricultural practices in Argentina. The Reading Comprehension passage contained one inference based question, one author’s viewpoint question and four fact based questions. There were two questions each on Synonyms and Antonyms. An overall attempt of 34-35 can be considered to be a good attempt.

All the questions were based on basics of computer like operating system, internet, input / output devices, Microsoft Office, Malware, Virus, Antivirus, Hyperlink, Bandwidth, Biometrics, etc. This section was of moderate difficulty level and an attempt of 14 questions can be consider as a good attempt.

Quantitative Aptitude

Overall, this section was of moderate difficulty level. A major chunk of the questions were from DI. There were other questions based on Partnership, Pipes and Cisterns, Boats and Streams, Profit, Loss and Discount, Simplification, Comparison of Variables and Percentage. The questions of DI (Table) were calculative in nature. Simplification questions were time consuming. A well prepared student would have easily attempted 16 to 17 questions in this section.

General Awareness

This section comprised questions of moderate difficulty level primarily based on current affairs. There were 13 questions on Current affairs. Candidates who have kept themselves abreast with current affairs of the past three to four months would have easily answered most of the questions in this section. Some questions based on the following topics: Missile Spyder, Bhim Betka Rock Shelter, Longest Bridge in India, Rail Sarathi App, ELSS, DEMU, North Natuna Sea, Location of Cuttack etc.
