Welcome to a scholarly haven tailor for those navigating the corridors of higher education. Our comprehensive blog dedicated to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). As we embark on this intellectual expedition together, we aim to provide an insightful guide for prospective candidates, shedding light on the intricacies, challenges, and triumphs associated with CUET.

CUET is a national-level entrance exam that admits students to undergraduate and integrated programmes at 54 central universities and over 80 other institutions across India. The exam will be computer-based, with two shifts (morning and afternoon). Several major universities, including Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Jawaharlal Nehru University, along with private universities like Tata Institute of Social Science, UPES, BML Munjal etc take part in the exam.

CUET was introduced to reduce the high entry requirements for central universities and their respective colleges. These high cut-off standards were unfair to many aspiring students because the marking system used differed significantly from one board to the next. The exam is a centralised test for over 80 universities, including top institutions such as Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Central University of Punjab, and Jawaharlal Nehru University. Admission to all constituent colleges of the participating universities will be based on the CUET scorecard. While CUET is the gateway to top universities, there are lot of universities, such as Mumbai University, Pune University, Bangalore University where admissions continue to take place based on merit, making it important to score well in your Board Exams. Even for the top colleges in CUET, considering the scale of competition, Board exams play a crucial role in selection, along with CUET scores. So, it's important to focus on both.

Candidates must have passed their 12th intermediate examinations from any recognised board. (The percentage required to be eligible for specific courses at different universities/colleges will vary, and students should consult the university/college website). But In Order to qualify for CUET, candidates need to have achieved a minimum of 50 % marks in their class 12 examination for the general category and 45% for the SC/ ST category. Candidates must be Indian citizens to be eligible for the CUET 2023 exam. Appearing candidates may also apply for this examination, but they must provide proof of passing the examination before the deadline.

CUET will be conducted in three slots; and candidates must carefully select the combination of sections/subjects. The exam will be conducted in 13 languages. Examination will be conducted on multiple days in three shifts, depending on the number of candidates and subject choice. One can select a maximum of 10 subjects from the three sections. Some domain subjects will have 15 minutes extra instead of usual 45 minutes.
