The University of Delhi (DU) has officially announced the criteria for the tiebreaker scenario. The university has announced that in case of a tie between the CUET score of two or more students applying for the same course and college, their Board marks will be considered. Initially the best of 3, and subsequently best of 4 and 5 will be considered. If there remains a tie, then the older student will get the seat. In this way, even the student's age comes into consideration indirectly in the CUET eligibility criteria for DU. Students are therefore advised to give equal focus on their Board preparation along with the CUET 2024 and score well in both exams.
CUET is an entrance exam for admissions to Undergraduate courses in 250+ universities including 44+ central universities. Each participating university (central) must follow standard norms of the CUET reservation policy set by the Government of India, concerning intake capacity. There are no changes in the CUET eligibility criteria. It will remain the same as the previous year, and the same has been briefly discussed above.
Any student who has passed the class 12 Board exam with 50% marks (5% relaxation for category students), or is appearing for the same, is eligible and may apply for the CUET 2024 (UG) exam.
The class 12 marks of the students will be considered by DU and some other universities to decide the tie-breaker. In case there is a tie between two or more students with the same CUET score and applying for the same course and college, their class 12 marks (best of 3, 4, & 5 subsequently) will be considered. Still, there remains a tie, the older student will get the seat.
Students appear for various numbers of subjects in CUET (3, 4, 5, or 6). Based on the number of subjects a student has appeared in, the good score also varies. Generally, with a score of above 90% marks in CUET 2024, students will have a fair chance of getting admission to any of the top participating universities of CUET 2024.
