The Gender Diversity Score in IIMs
Many Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have begun to focus on promoting gender diversity in their MBA programs for the past few years. There have been various strategies to encourage this including the policy of awarding additional points to female and transgender candidates during the admission process.
However, not all IIMs are following the same strategy or policy. So the weightage of additional points given based on gender can vary from one institute to another. Alongside this, there are some IIMs that have not adopted any such policies and are looking towards other ways to encourage gender diversity.
Here is a list of the gender diversity score that is offered by the IIMs at the time of admission. Do note that some IIMs provide gender diversity scores for selection to the PI rounds while some include it as a factor in the final stage of admission.

The gender diversity score has been introduced to address the gender imbalance in most IIMs. Thus, it is in no way aimed at offering an undue advantage to female candidates.
While most IIMs have adopted a policy of awarding additional points to female candidates during the admission process, this is not a universal or balanced practice across all IIMs, with varying details to the policy.
