IPMAT Exam Pattern and Syllabus
Exam Pattern:
The IPMAT exam pattern consists of two stages:
Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Stage 2: Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI)
CBT Exam Pattern:
The CBT stage consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) divided into three sections: Quantitative Ability (QA), Logical Reasoning (LR), and Verbal Ability (VA). The duration of the exam is two hours, and there is no negative marking for wrong answers.
Section-wise distribution of questions and marks:
Quantitative Ability: This section consists of 40 questions, and the total marks allotted are 120. The questions are based on topics such as Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
Logical Reasoning: This section consists of 40 questions, and the total marks allotted are 120. The questions are based on topics such as Data Interpretation, Analytical Reasoning, and Logical Reasoning.
Verbal Ability: This section consists of 40 questions, and the total marks allotted are 120. The questions are based on topics such as Reading Comprehension, Grammar, and Vocabulary.
WAT and PI Exam Pattern:
The candidates who clear the CBT stage are called for the WAT and PI stage. The WAT is a written test in which the candidates are given a topic to write an essay on within a stipulated time. The PI is a personal interview in which the candidates are assessed on their communication skills, academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and overall personality.
Syllabus:
The IPMAT syllabus is designed to test the candidates' aptitude in various areas. Here's a brief overview of the syllabus for each section:
Quantitative Ability: This section tests the candidates' ability to solve mathematical problems. The syllabus includes topics such as Arithmetic (Percentages, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest), Algebra (Linear Equations, Quadratic Equations), Geometry (Triangles, Circles, Quadrilaterals), and Trigonometry (Trigonometric Ratios, Heights and Distances).
Logical Reasoning: This section tests the candidates' ability to analyze and solve logical problems. The syllabus includes topics such as Data Interpretation (Tables, Graphs, Charts), Analytical Reasoning (Blood Relations, Syllogism, Coding-Decoding), and Logical Reasoning (Seating Arrangements, Puzzle Tests).
Verbal Ability: This section tests the candidates' ability to understand and use the English language. The syllabus includes topics such as Reading Comprehension (Passages, Synonyms and Antonyms), Grammar (Parts of Speech, Tenses, Active and Passive Voice), and Vocabulary (Word Meanings, Analogies).
