About Common University Entrance Test (CUET)

What is CUET?

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is an all-India examination to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in central, state, and various other universities of India including top universities like Delhi University, BHU, Allahabad University, Tezpur University, the University of Hyderabad amongst others. Why CUET?

A common entrance test will effectively eliminate the need to take multiple entrance exams and reduce the dependency on Class XII board exam marks significantly. As per the official guidelines, CUET will have the following sections:

  • Section IA/IB: Languages (13 + 19) 32 Languages
  • Section II: Domain-Specific Subjects
  • Section III: General Aptitude Test

CUET Participating Universities

CUET will be the mandatory admission test for universities established under an Act of Parliament and are under the control and purview of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. As of now, there are 54 central universities in India. Currently, 45 universities will accept the CUET score including Delhi University, and Jamia Milia Islamia, which together offer close to 1.68 Lac seats under various disciplines at the undergraduate level. Frequently Asked Questions

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is the gateway to undergraduate courses offered by the Central, state, and various other universities of India. As of now, 44 central universities and 46 other universities have accepted CUET for admissions in their UG and PG programs.

Formerly known as CUCET, the scores were accepted by 14 participating Central Universities only. From the academic year 2022, it came to be known as CUET. A total of 100+ universities are expected to take part in the CUET 2023 to fill their UG seats.

CUET 2023 will be conducted in online mode as a Computer-Based Test by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam will be conducted over two different shifts (morning and afternoon).

In the CUET 2023 question paper, each question will carry 5 marks for every correct attempt; while, for each wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted. However, there will be no negative marking for the unattempted/unmarked questions.
