India Post (IPPB) Preliminary Exam 2016 Analysis: Slot 1, January 07, 2017

Today (January 07, 2017) was the first day of IPPB Preliminary Exam 2016. It is being conducted in four time slots from morning to evening. A total of 100 questions had to be answered in 60 minutes. All the other sections, except the English Language section, were available bilingually, that is, in both English and Hindi. There was a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.

The English Language section of IPPB Prelims Exam 2016 comprised of questions based on Reading Comprehension, Error Spotting and Cloze Test. The Reading Comprehension was based on banking system while the Cloze Test was based on pollution. There were no questions based on Para-Jumbles; and the question on Error Spotting were easy in nature. The overall difficulty level of this section was easy to moderate.

The Reasoning Ability section of IPPB Prelims Exam 2016 was dominated by questions based on logical reasoning sets. The Linear Seating Arrangement set should have been attempted while the Circular Seating Arrangement set that comprised people facing inwards and outwards was a bit time taking and thus should have been omitted. Blood Relation and Puzzle based questions required a smart approach. Syllogism questions were easy to solve. The overall difficulty level of this section was easy to moderate.

The Quantitative Aptitude section of IPPB Prelims Exam 2016 saw questions from a variety of topics. Some commonly asked topics were Time and Work, Mensuration, Probability, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Percentage, Age, Mixtures & Allegations and Profit, Loss and Discount. There was 1 set each of Table Based Data Interpretation which was calculation intensive and Bar Graph based Data Interpretation which was of moderate difficulty level. The overall difficulty level of this section was moderate to difficult.
