Every IPM course has its own personality, and IIM Amritsar has a few things that set it apart from the rest.
Just like other IIMs offering IPM, this IIM Amritsar IPM admission process has multiple parts. Missing any one means your application will not go through.
IIM Amritsar does not run its own entrance test. Instead, it uses the IPMAT score, conducted by IIM Indore. Head to the official IIM Indore website, fill in your details, and pay the IPMAT fee. You will then get a registration number. Keep this number safe, you will need it for the next step.
Once you have your IPMAT number, go to the official IIM Amritsar admission portal and click on Apply Now. Fill in your academic and personal details, enter your IPMAT registration number, upload the required documents, and pay the application fee. This step is just as important as Step 1, so do not skip it.
IIM Amritsar calculates something called an Aptitude Test Score, or ATS, using your IPMAT marks. Your Quant MCQ score gets 30 percent weight, your Quant Short Answer score gets 30 percent weight, and your Verbal Ability score gets the remaining 40 percent. Candidates are shortlisted for interviews purely on this ATS.
If you are shortlisted, you will be called for a Personal Interview. The panel looks at your academic record, how well you communicate, your awareness of current events, and any extracurricular activities you have taken part in.
Your final score, called the Composite Score, is made up of three parts. Your ATS counts for 70 percent. Your Personal Interview counts for 25 percent. And if you are female or transgender, you get an additional 5 percent added as a Gender Diversity component. The merit list is then prepared category-wise, and provisional admission offers go out accordingly.
IIM Amritsar has not released its 2027 schedule yet. Based on the official 2026-31 cycle, here is a fair idea of how things might unfold. Treat this as a guide, not a confirmed calendar.

Here is some genuinely good news. Among all the IPM colleges, IIM Amritsar is currently the most affordable one. Based on the last known official figures for the 2026-31 batch, the first three years cost around Rs 17.75 lakh, and the MBA years (years 4 and 5) add about Rs 21.5 lakh more. That brings the full five-year fee to roughly Rs 39.25 lakh, noticeably lower than several other IIMs offering IPM.
IIM Amritsar has not announced its 2027 fee yet. Fees tend to rise slightly each year, so always check the latest official Fee Structure on iimamritsar.ac.in before you plan your budget. The application fee for the 2026-31 cycle was Rs 2,000 for general category candidates, and a similar amount can be expected for 2027.
Since IIM Amritsar accepts IPMAT Indore scores, the exam you give is exactly the same one used by IIM Indore. It runs for 120 minutes and has 90 questions, split across Quant and Verbal Ability.

IIM Amritsar also welcomes students from outside India. It sets aside 5 seats specifically for international applicants, separate from the regular intake. To apply, you need a non-Indian passport, must be under 20 years of age as of the relevant date, and need a valid SAT score of at least 1300 out of 1600. The selection process for international students is also different. It uses 70 percent weight on SAT score, 25 percent on the interview, and 5 percent on the gender diversity component.
The first three years build your foundation in three core areas: Finance, Economics, and Business Management. You will learn the mathematics and statistics behind financial decisions, pick up computational and analytical tools used in real-world economics, and also build communication and management skills along the way. The goal is to shape you into someone who can read data, understand markets, and make smart, responsible business decisions.
Once you finish year 3, you can either exit with your BSQFE degree or continue straight into the MBA programme for years 4 and 5, with no extra entrance test needed in between.
Since the IPM programme at IIM Amritsar is still fairly new, a separate IPM-only placement report has not been published yet. However, IPM students will eventually be placed alongside the MBA batch, the same way it works at most other IIMs offering this course. For reference, the institute's overall placement numbers have been growing steadily, with recruiter numbers more than doubling in recent years. As the first IPM batches near graduation, expect this page to be updated with IPM-specific placement figures.
