What Makes IIM Bodh Gaya IPM Different?

Before you start preparing, here is what makes this program worth understanding on its own terms.

IIM Bodh Gaya IPM Admission Process - How Do You Apply?

The process here is one of the simplest among all the IIM IPM options.

Step 1: Register and Appear for JIPMAT

Go to the official NTA JIPMAT website, exams.nta.ac.in/JIPMAT. Register online, pay the JIPMAT application fee, and appear for the exam on the scheduled date. There is no separate IIM Bodh Gaya application form at this stage.

Step 2: NTA Declares JIPMAT Results

NTA releases scorecards on the official website after the exam. Your scorecard shows your score and percentile in each section and overall.

Step 3: Register Your Expression of Interest (EoI) on the IIM Bodh Gaya Portal

This is the step many students miss. After the result is out, you must visit the IIM Bodh Gaya IPM admission portal, log in with your JIPMAT credentials or registration details, and specifically register your EoI. Without this step, you will not be considered for an offer even if your score qualifies.

Step 4: IIM Bodh Gaya Releases the Merit List

IIM Bodh Gaya prepares category-wise merit lists based on JIPMAT scores. Only candidates who scored at or above the minimum 30th percentile in each individual section are eligible for the merit list. Multiple lists are typically released in rounds over July to September, so not being in the first list does not rule you out.

Step 5: Verify Your Documents

Shortlisted candidates must submit academic documents and category certificates (where applicable) for verification.

Step 6: Accept the Offer and Pay the Acceptance Fee

If you receive an offer, pay Rs 60,000 as the Offer Acceptance Amount within the stipulated deadline. This is adjusted against your first-semester fee, so it is not an additional cost. If you withdraw before the specified withdrawal date, Rs 59,000 is refunded (Rs 1,000 is retained as a processing charge). No refund is given after registration.

The JIPMAT Exam Pattern

JIPMAT is the same exam used by IIM Jammu. It is conducted by NTA and is a 150-minute Computer-Based Test with 100 questions and a total of 400 marks. One important difference from IPMAT Indore: there is no sectional time limit in JIPMAT. You get 150 minutes for the entire paper and can move freely between sections.

Section

Questions

Marks

What to Expect

Quantitative Aptitude (QA)

33

132

Maths up to Class 10-11 level: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, number systems

Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)

33

132

Tables, bar charts, pie charts, puzzles, seating arrangements, critical reasoning

Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC)

34

136

Reading passages, grammar, vocabulary, para jumbles, sentence correction

Total

100

400

150 minutes total; no per-section time limit; switch freely

Marking scheme: +4 marks for each correct answer, -1 mark for each wrong answer. Unattempted questions carry zero marks, so it is better to leave a question blank than to guess without confidence.

JIPMAT Cutoff for IIM Bodh Gaya

There are two things to be aware of when it comes to the cutoff for IIM Bodh Gaya.

First, the minimum qualification threshold: you must score at or above the 30th percentile in each section individually. If you fall below this in even one section, you are out of the eligible pool regardless of your overall score.

Second, the actual admission cutoff: once all eligible candidates are ranked by overall JIPMAT score, IIM Bodh Gaya offers admission down the list until all seats are filled. This is a much higher bar than the 30th percentile minimum. For reference, the actual score needed for a confirmed offer in the General category in 2025 was approximately 333 marks out of 400 in Round 1.

IIM Bodh Gaya does not release category-wise percentile cutoffs in the same way IIM Jammu does. The raw score cutoffs below are from the 2025 admission cycle and are shared as a reference range, not a guarantee for 2027.

Category

Round 1 (Final Offer), 2025

Waitlisted / Later Rounds, 2025

General

333+

Down to approximately 290

EWS

300+

Down to approximately 245

NC-OBC

Down to approximately 220

SC

235+

Down to approximately 146

ST

190+

Down to approximately 140

PwD

230+

Down to approximately 140

Because IIM Bodh Gaya releases multiple merit lists, students who appear in later rounds often secure admission at lower scores than the Round 1 cutoff. If you are on the waitlist, do not give up after the first list.

IIM Bodh Gaya IPM Reservation Policy

IIM Bodh Gaya admits approximately 120 Indian students per IPM batch. In addition, supernumerary seats are reserved for female candidates to increase gender diversity in the program. These extra seats do not reduce the number available to other candidates. Reservation follows Government of India norms.

NC-OBC

SC

IIM Bodh Gaya IPM Fees

The fees for IIM Bodh Gaya IPM are structured in two distinct phases. Years 1 to 3 cover the BBA foundation, and years 4 and 5 follow the MBA curriculum at the fees applicable to that year's MBA batch.

The exact 2027-32 fee schedule has not been released. Fees are typically revised upward each year. Always verify the current cycle’s official fee structure on iimbg.ac.in before financial planning.

What Will You Actually Study?

The first three years follow a semester-based system (two semesters per year, so six semesters in total). During these three years, each student must complete at least 150 credits, made up of compulsory core courses and elective choices. The curriculum is built around three broad goals: analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication in business settings, and ethical and socially conscious decision-making.

Foundation Subjects (Years 1 to 3)

The early semesters blend business fundamentals with social sciences, psychology, economics, and quantitative methods. You are not just studying business theory in a silo. You are learning how businesses connect to the wider world of human behaviour, society, and policy.

Core Management Courses

By the middle and later semesters of the BBA phase, the focus shifts to core management disciplines. Some of the courses in this structure include Introduction to Accounting, Principles of Management, Managerial Economics, Principles of Marketing Management, Organizational Behaviour, Corporate Finance, Strategic Management, Human Resource Management, Business Research Method, Operations Management, Business Ethics and Values, and Social Entrepreneurship, among others. The total credits required from core management courses alone is 37.

Years 4 and 5 (MBA Phase)

Once you clear the Year 3 CGPA threshold of 5.5, you move directly into the MBA program. The MBA curriculum at IIM Bodh Gaya follows a trimester system and covers core and elective MBA subjects, including specialisation choices. You study alongside a separate MBA batch, with access to the same faculty, summer internships, and final placement drives.

A Note on Physical Training

Yoga and sports are a compulsory non-credit course throughout the program. You are required to pass or fail, but the credits do not count toward your CGPA.

CGPA Rules: What You Need to Know Before You Join

Two thresholds matter across the five-year journey.

Special Features of the IIM Bodh Gaya IPM

DhiSNya Retreat Program: a mandatory reflection and wellness retreat in Year 1 designed to build self-awareness alongside academic learning.

Rural Immersion Program: a mandatory social immersion at the end of Year 2, where students spend time in rural communities or with social enterprises to develop empathy and practical awareness of India beyond classrooms.

Summer Internship: a corporate internship after successfully completing Year 3 (before entering the MBA phase), giving you early exposure to industry.

Student Exchange Program: eligible students with a CGPA of 6.5 or above (at the end of Semester II or Semester IV) can apply for international exchange at partner universities. IIM Bodh Gaya has over 20 international partnerships.

IIM Bodh Gaya IPM Placements

IPM students participate in the final placement process alongside the MBA batch, giving them access to the same recruiters and opportunities. The first dedicated IPM-specific placement report is expected around 2026-27, as the earliest IPM batches complete all five years.

For reference, the most recent disclosed placement data from the MBA batch gives a sense of the recruiter quality and outcome range. In the 2024 cycle (MBA batch 2022-24), IIM Bodh Gaya achieved 100% placement for all 266 students, with a highest package of Rs 32.5 LPA and an average of Rs 13.9 LPA, across 120+ participating companies including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Deloitte, PwC, Accenture, and Cognizant. The 2025 batch saw a highest package of Rs 22 LPA and an average of approximately Rs 13 LPA.

These are MBA-batch figures, not IPM-specific. IPM students join the same placement pool. As IPM-only placement reports become available on iimbg.ac.in, they will replace this reference data.
