IIM Shillong IPM Eligibility Criteria 2026

Since IIM Shillong accepts IPMAT Indore scores, students must meet both the IPMAT Indore eligibility and IIM Shillong's additional requirements. IIM Shillong's criteria are stricter- here's what you need to qualify:

Candidates should have been born on or after July 01, 2006. 5 years of relaxation is given to SC/ST/DA candidates (i.e., born on or after July 01, 2001).

Candidates must have appeared for the IPMAT (Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test) conducted by IIM Indore. IIM Shillong uses the IPMAT scores to shortlist candidates for the Personal Interview (PI). There is no separate entrance exam for IIM Shillong IPM.

Provisional Admission

Candidates likely to complete Class XII by July 31, 2026 can also apply. If selected, admission will be provisional. They must submit Class X and XII marksheets along with a school leaving certificate at the time of programme registration.

IPMAT-Indore: Which Exam Score does IIM Shillong IPM Accept?

IIM Shillong accepts IPMAT Indore scores as part of its IPM admission process. Students do not need to appear for any other exam- one IPMAT score gives a shot at both IIM Indore and IIM Shillong, as well as the other IIMs accepting IPMAT Indore scores.

The IPMAT has three sections with a sectional time limit of 40 minutes each. The Quantitative Aptitude section is divided into MCQ-type and Short Answer (SA) type sub-sections.

Marking Scheme: 

IIM Shillong IPM Selection Procedure

IIM Shillong follows a structured 6-stage selection process:

Stage 1: Candidates meeting eligibility criteria apply online. IIM Shillong may request additional information if needed. 

Stage 2: An eligible pool for the Personal Interview (PI) is created based on candidates with positive raw scores and minimum marks in each section of IPMAT. The minimum cutoff in each section is decided by the Admissions Committee and varies by category. 

Stage 3: Candidates from each category are shortlisted for PI based on the merit list generated from IPMAT scores.

Stage 4: Shortlisted candidates attend the PI at specified venues.

Stage 5: Consistent and satisfactory performance in the PI is expected. Minimum performance standards are set by the Admissions Committee.

Stage 6: Only candidates meeting requirements from all previous stages are considered for final selection. A category-wise merit list is prepared based on the Overall Score (OS).

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is a mandatory subject in Class 11 and 12 for IIM Shillong IPM. This is an additional requirement beyond the IPMAT Indore eligibility criteria, where Mathematics is not mandatory. Students who have not studied Mathematics cannot apply even if they clear IPMAT.

Yes, IIM Shillong accepts IPMAT Indore scores. IIM Shillong uses the IPMAT raw scores to shortlist candidates for the Personal Interview (PI). Students must apply separately to IIM Shillong after appearing for IPMAT- there is no separate entrance exam.

IIM Shillong follows a 6-stage selection process. Candidates are shortlisted based on IPMAT scores, then called for a Personal Interview (PI). The final Overall Score (OS) is calculated as: Class X marks (10 points) + Class XII marks (10 points) + IPMAT score (30 points) + PI score (50 points) = 100. The PI carries the highest weightage at 50%.

The total fee for the first three years (BBA stage) of IIM Shillong IPM is ₹11,43,000. This includes tuition fee of ₹3,05,000 and non-academic expenses of ₹76,000 per year. In addition, an alumni fee of ₹10,000 and a refundable caution deposit of ₹20,000 are payable at the time of admission. Year 4 and 5 fees are charged as per the prevailing PGP programme fee.

Yes. Under NEP 2020, IIM Shillong offers an exit option after Year 3 with a BBA degree. If a student exits before completing the BBA degree, GST will be applicable on the fees paid up to that point.

Yes, students with Applied Mathematics as a subject in Class 11 and 12 are eligible to apply for the IIM Shillong IPM programme.

IPMAT Indore 2026 will be conducted on May 4, 2026, by IIM Indore. The last date to register is March 14, 2026. IIM Shillong's separate application form for the 2026-31 batch will be announced on iimshillong.ac.in/ipm once IPMAT results are declared.
