IPMAT & JIPMAT 2026: General Eligibility Criteria

There are some general eligibility criteria to pursue integrated programs for management from IIMs in India. Furthermore, the criteria differ for every category, so we have tried to collate all the different criteria for your convenience.

For General/NC-OBC/EWS Category:

Candidates must fulfill the following requirements to be eligible for the exam:

• Qualification in the relevant examination in either 2024, 2025, or 2026.
• Attainment of a maximum age of 20 years as of July 31, 2026 (for IPMAT Indore). Please refer to exam-specific sections below for age criteria of IPMAT Rohtak and JIPMAT.
• Minimum percentage requirements vary by exam — please refer to the exam-specific sections below.

For SC/ST/PwD (DA) Categories:

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD (DA) categories must meet the following criteria:

• Qualification in the relevant examination in either 2024, 2025, or appearing in 2026.
• 5-year age relaxation applicable for IPMAT Indore and IIM Shillong.
• Minimum percentage requirements vary by exam — please refer to the exam-specific sections below.

Before diving into the exam-wise breakdown, here is a quick summary of the IPMAT 2026 eligibility criteria across all categories:

IPMAT Indore 2026: Eligibility Criteria (IIM Indore IPM Eligibility)

Candidates satisfying the following IPMAT exam eligibility criteria are eligible to apply for the Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management of IIM Indore. IPMAT Indore scores are also accepted by IIM Ranchi, IIM Amritsar, IIM Shillong, IIFT Kakinada, NALSAR, Nirma University, TAPMI, Krea University, Alliance University, and IIM Sirmaur (for BMS programme).

• Age: Candidate should have been born on or after August 01, 2006 (5 years of relaxation to the candidates from SC/ST/PwD category will be given i.e. born on or after August 01, 2001).
• Qualifying Exam: Candidate should have passed Standard XII/HSC or equivalent examination in 2024, 2025, or appearing in 2026.
• Class X: Candidate should have passed Standard X/SSC or equivalent examination. No minimum percentage is prescribed by IIM Indore.
• Class XII: Candidate should have passed Standard XII/HSC or equivalent examination. No minimum percentage is prescribed by IIM Indore.
• Gap: Not more than 2 years gap after Class XII.

Note 1: 

• Candidates who are likely to complete Standard XII/HSC or equivalent by the end of July 31, 2026, can also apply, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria as mentioned above. 
• If selected, such candidates will be offered admission to the programme provisionally. 
• At the time of registration, such candidates must produce Standard X/SSC and Standard XII/HSC or equivalent examination mark sheets along with a school leaving certificate/migration certificate, failing which the candidate's provisional admission offer will stand cancelled.

Note 2: 

• The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in X and XII Standard would be calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the mark sheet/grade sheet, irrespective of the Board's regulation. 
• In case the candidates are awarded letter grades or grade points instead of marks, the conversion of grades to the percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the Board/Competent Authority.

Note 3: 

• Applicants from international schools affiliated to foreign boards like IGCSE and IB are required to produce "The IB Indian Percentage Transcript".

IPMAT Indore 2026: Selection Process

Candidates will be selected based on overall performance in the Aptitude Test (AT) and Personal Interview (PI). The selection process is as follows:

1. Application:

• Submit application online at iimidr.ac.in from February 02 to March 14, 2026.
• Application fee: ₹4,130 for General/NC-OBC/EWS candidates; ₹2,065 for SC/ST/PwD candidates (inclusive of GST).

2. Aptitude Test:

• Conducted across 39 cities on May 4, 2026 (afternoon shift: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM).
• The Aptitude Test consists of three sections: Quantitative Ability (MCQ), Quantitative Ability (Short Answer), and Verbal Ability (MCQ).
• Correct answers yield 4 marks, while incorrect MCQ responses incur a penalty of 1 mark deduction. No negative marking for QA (Short Answer) section.
• Sectional time limits apply.

3. PI Shortlisting:

• Based on positive raw scores and minimum sectional cut-offs, decided category-wise by the Admissions Committee.

4. Personal Interview:

• Conducted online or offline, assessing confidence, communication skills, and general awareness.

5. Final Selection:

IPMAT Rohtak 2026: Eligibility Criteria

IPMAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria for students keen to apply for the 5-year Integrated Program in Management (IPM) at IIM Rohtak (Intake: 198 seats):

• Minimum 60% in Standard X/SSC and Standard XII/HSC or equivalent examinations (55% for the candidates from SC/ST/PwD category).
• Maximum 20 years of age as on June 30, 2026 (applicable to all categories including SC/ST/PwD — no age relaxation for IPMAT Rohtak).
• Reservation will be applicable as per GoI norms after meeting the minimum eligibility criteria.

Note: Students who are likely to complete Standard XII/HSC or equivalent by June 30, 2026 can also apply, subject to meeting the IPMAT 2026 eligibility criteria as mentioned above.

Important — Percentage Calculation for IPMAT Rohtak: Unlike IPMAT Indore (which uses all subjects), IPMAT Rohtak calculates percentage based on the best five subjects in the mark sheet, irrespective of Board regulations.

JIPMAT 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates satisfying the following eligibility criteria are eligible to apply for the IPM programme at IIM Jammu (140 seats) and IIM Bodh Gaya (120 seats).

• Age: No age limit prescribed for JIPMAT.
• The candidate should have passed Standard XII/HSC or equivalent examination in 2024, 2025 or appearing in 2026.
• The candidate should have a minimum of 60% in Standard X/SSC and Standard XII/HSC or equivalent examinations (55% for the candidates from SC/ST/PwD/Transgender category).
• Candidates who are likely to complete Standard XII/HSC or equivalent by the end of July 31, 2026 can also apply.
• IIM Jammu specific: Passed Class X in 2021 or later (not more than 2-year gap).
• IIM Bodh Gaya specific: Passed Class X in 2023 or later (not more than 1-year gap).

Stream & Subject Requirements for IPMAT 2026

One of the most commonly asked questions about IPMAT exam eligibility is whether stream affects eligibility. Here is a clear answer:

IPMAT Indore and IPMAT Rohtak have absolutely no stream restriction. Students from Science, Commerce, and Arts backgrounds are all equally eligible to apply for IPMAT 2026. A very common question among aspirants is — can I apply for IPMAT without Maths? The answer is yes. You do not need Mathematics in Class XII to apply for IIM Indore or IIM Rohtak's IPM programme. Arts and Commerce students are fully eligible.

The exceptions are IIM Amritsar (Mathematics or Applied Mathematics compulsory in Class XII) and IIM Shillong (Mathematics or Applied Mathematics compulsory in Class XI and XII). IIFT Kakinada also requires Mathematics, Business Mathematics, or Applied Mathematics in Class XII.

There is also no domicile restriction — students from any state in India can apply for any IIM's IPM programme.

How is Percentage Calculated for IPMAT 2026 Eligibility?

Understanding percentage calculation is critical when checking your IPMAT exam eligibility. The method differs between exams:

• For IPMAT Indore: Percentage is calculated on the aggregate marks of ALL subjects in the Class X and Class XII mark sheets, irrespective of the Board's regulation.
• For IPMAT Rohtak: Percentage is calculated on the aggregate marks of the best five subjects in the mark sheet, irrespective of the Board's regulation.

For both exams:

• If your board awards letter grades or grade points, conversion must follow the procedure certified by the Board/Competent Authority.
• Students from IB or IGCSE schools must produce the IB Indian Percentage Transcript.
• No rounding off — 59.9% does not qualify as 60%.

Pro Tip: If your overall percentage is slightly below 60% but your best five subjects give 60%+, you may be eligible for IPMAT Rohtak but not IPMAT Indore — check carefully before applying.
