In India, there are many MBA programs offered by various institutions, with over three thousand MBA institutions and more than eight thousand five hundred types of MBA courses available. Apart from the standard two-year full-time MBA program, MBA aspirants have three other options to choose from.


Over time, we have witnessed that the demand for various types of MBA specializations has also risen as each branch of every sector requires specialists from relevant areas. The types of MBA in India include:

Top Institutes

Full-time MBA: The full-time MBA is a traditional 2-year program delivering a broad curriculum.

Graduation with a minimum score of 50% or above or equivalent CGPA in graduation from a recognized university

2 Years

IIMs, XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Indian School of Business (ISB), SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Management Development Institute Gurgaon (MDI), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), FMS Delhi, etc.

Part-time MBA: This is mainly for working professionals who wish to pursue their degree while working at the same time.

Graduation in any stream with a minimum score of 50%

2-4 years

IIMs, XLRI Jamshedpur, MDI Gurgaon, FMS Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad, JBIMS Mumbai etc.

Executive MBA (EMBA): Designed for experienced professionals, normally with more work experience than conventional MBA students, often finished while proceeding to work full-time.

Graduation with a minimum score of 50% from a recognized university with at least 2 years of work experience


1-2 years 

IIMs, Symbiosis Centre for Management and HRD, Indian School of Business, Amity University, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies etc.


Distance MBA: Operated remotely, permitting pupils to study from any place without having to attend classes in person.

Graduates from any stream with at least 50% academic aggregate and relevant work experience can apply for a distance MBA. 


2-5 years 

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Delhi, Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning (SCDL), Pune, School of Open Learning (DU SOL), Delhi, NMIMS GASCE, Mumbai, and Amity University, Noida.

Online MBA: It is quite similar to distance learning MBA programs but with a much better emphasis on online learning and interaction.

Graduation with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized university. 

2 years 

Amity University Online, Jaipur National University, National Institute of Business Management, Pondicherry University’s Directorate of Distance Education etc.

MBA Abroad: A course curriculum designed according to your requirements, you have the option to pursue MBA Abroad full-time, part-time, distance, or online.


Graduation with at least 50% marks in business or a related field from a recognized university and a work experience of 3-5 years

1-2 years

The Wharton School, London Business School, HEC Paris, IESE Business School, Melbourne Business School, etc
