Deciphering CUET (UG) 2024 - Everything You Need to Know!

According to the latest updates, the CUET (UG) 2024 registrations are scheduled to begin from Feb. 28, 2024. CUET [UG] is the second-largest entrance exam in the country. There were 12 lakh applicants in the first edition, which increased to approximately 15 lakh in 2023, and NTA is expecting around 20 lakh applications for CUET (UG) 2024.
NTA is yet to announce any official updates regarding CUET (UG) 2024, apart from the exam schedule (which will be conducted between May 15 - 31, 2024). However, according to various sources, the exam pattern and mode of CUET (UG) 2024 will undergo significant changes.
The major change expected is: CUET (UG) 2024 will be conducted in hybrid (both online & offline) mode. Candidates aspiring to fill out the CUET (UG) 2024 form, must be aware of all the expected changes in the pattern and format of the exam.
Changes that are expected in the pattern and mode of CUET (UG) 2024:
> The exam will be conducted in hybrid mode (both online & offline). Subjects with less than 1.5 lakh registrations will be conducted only in online mode.
> Subjects with more than 1.5 lakh registrations and exams in areas like Kashmir, Jharkhand, and some parts of the Northeast will be conducted in offline (pen & paper) mode.
> For the first time, the NTA is planning to conduct CUET (UG) 2024 in a single shift. Thus, it will also do away with the requirement for the normalization process.
> The number of subjects a student can choose in their application form will be limited to 6 (including the General Test) for CUET (UG) 2024.

The above updates are the major changes that are expected in CUET (UG) 2024. However, the CUET advisory committee (representatives from central universities, UGC, & NTA) will most likely meet this week to discuss and confirm these changes. As soon as any official update is made public, the same will be intimated to the students.
