Indian Institute of Technology, Varanasi commonly known as IIT (BHU), is a top-notch engineering institution located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Founded in 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College, it became the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in 1968. It earned the status of an Indian Institute of Technology in 2012. Getting into IIT BHU - Admissions

For all B.Tech programs- JEE Advanced

All the IIT aspirants have to sit for JEE Main and afterwards, JEE Advanced. Only the top 150,000 scores in JEE Main will become eligible to sit for JEE advanced.


IIT BHU Eligibility

JEE eligibility criteria apply to all the IITs for admissions to their undergraduate programs. Based upon their score and rank in the JEE Advanced exam, shortlisted candidates are called for counseling.


Eligibility criteria for JEE is as follows:

  •  Students who are born on or after October 1, 1992 are eligible to apply. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) have been given a relaxation of 5 years.
  •   Aspiring candidates should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2016 or 2017.
  •   The candidates must have secured at least 75% marks or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th Class Examination conducted by respective boards. For SC/ST students, there shall be a relaxation of 5% in this criterion.
  •   Aadhar card is mandatory for all the Indian citizens who are taking JEE.

IIT BHU admission procedure

B.Tech admission at IIT BHU is done through online counseling. Counseling organized by the college is held for those candidates who are shortlisted through the screening process on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in JEE. After the allotment of seat candidates need to submit the requisite fee and required documents for verification.
