The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi also known as IIT-Mandi started functioning under the mentorship of IIT Roorkee from 2009 onwards. The only IIT campus located in Himalays is spread across 538 acres 15 km away from the historic town of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. The first batch of IIT Mandi graduated in 2013. Currently IIT Mandi has 4 schools and it offers admission at UG, PG and PhD levels.

Getting into IIT MANDI – Admissions

For all B.Tech programs- JEE Advanced

The aspirants have to qualify JEE Main and then JEE Advanced to be eligible for counseling. Only the top 224,000 students in JEE Main will become eligible to sit for JEE Advanced.
Also, the candidates must have passed class 12th from a recognized board with 75% marks (65% in case of ST/SC/PwD)

B.Tech admission at IIT Mandi is done through online counseling. Counseling organized by the JoSAA is held for those candidates who are shortlisted through the screening process on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in JEE. After the allotment of seat candidates need to submit the requisite fee and required documents for verification.

Campus life at IIT Mandi

The IIT Mandi campus is located in the foothills of western Himalayas which provide a serene campus and a place of peaceful living. Extra-curricular activities are driven by various clubs like Robotics club, Programming club, Music Club, Drama Club, Literary club etc. that contribute to the all-round development of the students. Students participate in competitions like Inter-IIT Sports Meet, Inter-IIT Cultural Meet etc. and perform their best. All the hostels are equipped with wi-fi internet connection, LCD television, washing machine, cloth dryer, microwave oven, induction heater, refrigerator, electric iron and facilities for indoor games such table tennis, foosball, carom etc. Management of hostel is by a warden and assistant warden with the help of a caretaker.

PLACEMENTS at IIT Mandi:

The Institute has achieved about 86% placements for the students graduated in previous years. Some of the students opt for higher studies to top rated universities. Reputed companies regularly visit IIT Mandi for recruitment. The average salary in the last few years had been nearly 13.17 LPA and the highest package received till date is 31.5 lakhs per annum.
