NIT Warangal

The National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NIT Warangal or NITW) is a public engineering institution located in Warangal, India. It is recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. The foundation stone for this institute was laid by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on 1959, the first in the chain of 31 NITs (formerly known as RECs) in the country. The institute was renamed as the National Institute of Technology, Warangal in 2002. It is ranked 26 in the NIRF ranking 2019 of Indian engineering universities.

Academic Programs:

The Institute presently has thirteen academic departments and a few advanced research centers in various disciplines of Engineering, Sciences and Management, with around 100 laboratories organized in a unique pattern of functioning, The Institute offers under eight Graduate programs (B.Tech,) in Engineering, 32 Post Graduate programs (M.Tech., M.Sc., MCA and MBA) in all disciplines and Ph.D programmes in all engineering and science and Humanities departments. The Institute is famous for its Research and Development, Industrial consultancy, Continuing education and Training programs for Teachers as well as professionals working in Industry. 

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)

Admission into B.Tech. programs are based on the All India Rank obtained in JEE (Main). Admission is through Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). All the B.Tech programmes are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Master of Technology (M.Tech):

Institute offers 28 M.Tech. programmes in eight engineering departments.  The students admitted into these programs through a centralized counseling for M Tech (CCMT).

Master of Science

Admission to M.Sc programs in Mathematics, Chemistry and M.Sc.(Tech.)-Engineering physics is based on the performance in Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.s (JAM) conducted by IITs through Centralized Counseling for M.Sc. / M.Sc (Tech) (CCMN).. Please visit the website www.ccmn.in for more details. 

Master of Computer Applications.

Candidates graduated with any degree  (with mathematics or allied subjects at 10+2 and degree level) are eligible for admission into Master of Computer Applications(M.C.A.) and the admissions are based on the rank obtained in  NIMCET, a common entrance examination conducted for admission into MCA program offered at 11 NITs.

Master of Business Administration.

Admission to Master of Business Administration (M.B.A)is open to Engineering graduates with a valid score in GMAT/CAT/MAT  followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Mode of Admission


  • One needs to take the JEE (Main) exam and either secure at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD) in Class XII or be within the category-wise top 20 percentile in his/her respective Class XII board examination.
  • Admissions are done on the basis of rank in JEE (Main) through JoSAA Counselling and CSAB Special Round
