While considering the SSC CGL 2020 eligibility, there are four important criteria that a candidate must fulfill. These four parameters are discussed below:
The first parameter is the citizenship of the candidate. The candidate must be a citizen of India to apply for CGL 2020.

SSC CGL Tier 1 consists of one paper having 100 questions, 25 questions each from Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English, and General Awareness. Each question carries 2 marks. Hence, the total marks for SSC CGL Tier 1 are 200 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.5 marks for each incorrect answer.

General Intelligence and Reasoning includes questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. SSC CGL Tier 2 consists of two papers namely Quantitiative Aptitude and English Language and Comprehension. Each paper is of 200 marks. Hence, the total marks for SSC CGL Tier 2 are 400 marks.
Only candidates who qualify for the cutoff of Assistant Audit Officer and Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) are allowed to appear for Paper-3 and Paper-4.

SSC CGL Tier 3 is a descriptive paper that is held in pen-and-paper mode. The candidates are asked to write an essay and a letter/precis/application. Each part consists of 50 marks, thus, the total marks for SSC CGL Tier 3 are 100 marks.
SSC CGL Tier 4 is the last and final round which is qualifying in nature. It is basically a skill test consisting of DEST and CPT. The SSC CGL Syllabus for DEST and CPT is discussed below:

The SSC CGL Tier 1 consists of four sections, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language and Comprehension, General Intelligence & Reasoning and General Awareness. It is a computer-based-test (CBT) and conducted online on the stipulated exam venue. Further, it is an elimination round where only candidates who qualify the Tier-1 will be allowed to appear for the Tier-2 exam.

SSC CGL Tier 2 is a second stage exam in the scheme of SSC CGL. Only the candidates who are shortlisted in the first round are allowed to appear for SSC CGL Tier 2. The Tier 2 or SSC CGL Mains exam is a computer-based test (CBT) and is held online on the prescribed exam venue. It consists of two papers (compulsory for all) that are held on the same day at a gap of 3 hours.
Paper-III and Paper-IV in the Tier-2 of SSC CGL are held only for those candidates who are shortlisted for the post of JSO and AAO respectively.

SSC CGL Tier 3 is a descriptive exam and is held in offline mode (pen and paper mode). It consists of an essay and letter/precis/application. Consisting of a total of 100 marks, Tier 3 is also an extremely important exam in the entire scheme of the paper.
