SSC CHSL (10 + 2) 2014 Re-Exam Analysis (15th February 2015)

The Staff Selection Commission (Combined Higher Secondary Level) Exam, conducted on February 15, 2015, was a re-examination for the 2014 paper. It was more or less on the lines of the previous year's paper. Overall, the difficulty level of the paper ranged from easy to moderate. Unlike the previous exam, the morning slot had 4 sets, with only one unique question paper. All sections, except English Language, were available bilingually, that is, in both English and Hindi. Each question was followed by 4 options. There was a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.

General Intelligence
The section primarily saw questions of easy level. A student could have easily attempted about 45 questions in this section.

English Language
This section was dominated by Grammar and Vocabulary. The paper comprised questions on - Synonyms, Antonyms, One word Substitution, Idioms, Sentence Completion, Sentence Correction, Error spotting and Spellings. There was also a ten blank Cloze Test. One question of One word substitution was repeated from the previous exam.

Quantitative Aptitude
This section comprised questions from a variety of areas.  A major part of the section was based on Algebra, Trigonometry and Geometry. The paper also had questions from Ratio, Profit & Loss, Averages, Time-Speed-Distance, Time & Work, Percentages and Data Interpretation. There were at least 3 questions which were either wrong or difficult to answer due to the ambiguity of the language.

The section was dominated by questions from Science and Technology, History, Economics, Geography and traditional G.K etc.  The emphasis was more on Static General Knowledge and not on Current Affairs, as there were only two questions of Current Affairs in the morning slot. The paper covered the questions from all major topics. An attempt of 15-20 questions could be considered good.
