IIM-I Introduction

Established in 1996, Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM-I) is the 6th IIM to be instituted by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.IIM Indore is registered as a Society under Societies Registration Act, 1973. The institute opened a campus in Mumbai in 2011 where it offers its two-year flagship PGP program. The major programs offered by IIM-I are:

1. Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM)

Indore’s flagship two-year, full-time, residential programme

2. Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP)

An intensive one year residential program

3. Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

Full time doctoral programme

4. Five Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM)

The first of its kind, IIM Indore’s IPM programme is a unique 5-year integrated program aimed at students who have passed out of class XII/Higher Secondary or equivalent from various schools in India. The program was started in November 2011 and it is the only undergraduate program offered by any IIM.
The course, in the first 3 years, is a good mix of social sciences, commerce, and science. Core management subjects are taught in the last two years.
Despite of being an extremely creative and unique program, the IPM program faces criticism by the other IIMs since it took away the post graduate tag of the IIMs.

IIM-I Eligibility

Eligibility for PGPM

 

  • The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree, with at least 50% {45 % in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories}, marks or an equivalent CGPA. The candidate may possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year bachelor’s degree / equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirement and are awaiting results can also apply. The candidate is required to have obtained at least 50% (45% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) marks or equivalent till the latestexamination.

Eligibility for EPGP
The Candidate must have-

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in any discipline.
  • A valid CAT /GMAT score*
  • Minimum 5 years of managerial/ entrepreneurial/ professional experience after graduation as on December 31, 2017.

*a valid CAT 2017 score or a GMAT score obtained between January, 2013 and December 31, 2017.
Eligibility for FPM 

  • Master’s degree in any discipline, with at least 55 per cent marks and at least 50% marks at Bachelors’ degree level
  •  OR
  • Five year/ four year Integrated Masters’ Degree programme in any discipline, with at least 55 percent marks 
  • OR
  • Professional qualifications like CA, ICWA, CS with at least 55 % marks and at least 50% marks at Bachelors’ degree level.

  • OR 
  • 4 year/8 semester Bachelor’s degree with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average

Eligibility for IPM 

  • General and NC-OBC Category: Minimum 60% in standard X/ SSC and standard XII/ HSC or equivalent examinations, Maximum 20 years of age as on July 31, 2017
  • SC, ST and PWD (DA) Category: Minimum 55% in standard X/ SSC and standard XII/ HSC or equivalent examinations, Maximum 22 years of age as on July 31, 2017

 


IIM-I Admission Procedure

For PGPM Programme 

There are 2 stages that a candidate goes through before getting selected for IIM-Indore PGPM Programme.

  • The first stage is appearing for the CAT Exam conducted by the IIMs (GMAT for the international candidates).
  • On clearing the required cut-offs and the composite score, a candidate is called for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). The candidate applying through GMATmust provide 3 letters of validation from people who know the candidate closely for academic and professional validation, and a ‘Statement of Purpose’.





For EPGP Programme

  • After initial screening, candidates are short-listed for personal interview round. Applications are screened on various aspects like CAT/GMAT score, academic performance, work experience, achievements, performance in the interview, etc. as decided by the admissions committee from time to time.
  • The final selection will depend on the PI and other factors earlier considered





For FPM Programme 

1. Application screening based on

  • Percentage marks/equivalent grades in Graduation/Post Graduation.

2.  Written Test for shortlisted candidates shall be held in the month of February

  • Written test in two parts:
    • Part I-  60 minutes (research writing)
    • Part II- 90 minutes (quantitative aptitude, verbal ability and data interpretation & reasoning)
  • Candidates having a minimum CATtest score as decided by the FPM Admissions committee will be exempted from Part-II of the FPM written test, however such candidates will be required to appear for Part-I of the written test comprising research writing.

3.   Personal Interview at IIM Indore campus in the month of April





For IPM Programme 

    • Candidates are shortlisted for the Aptitude Test on the basis of their application.
    • A merit list is generated based on the Aptitude Test scores. On the basis of the merit list, candidates are called for a round of personal interview and Writing Ability Test (WAT)
    • Category wise merit list will be generated based on Composite Scores and final admission offers will be made.


IIM-I Eligibility and Selection Criteria for PGPM

IIM Indore will adopt a three-stage selection process (I) Eligibility criteria (II) Shortlist for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) (III) Final Selection. Selection criteria for each of the stages are given below:

Remark: One special aspect about IIM Indore selection process is that it doesn't give any weightage for work experience. Freshers and people with less months of service have an equal chance to make it through to IIM-I PGPM.

IIM-I Final Placements

The placement process is conducted in two stages. The first is the laterals process where the firms interview the students with work experience and offer them mid-level managerial positions. The second stage is the final placement process where the firms are grouped into cohorts based on the profile offered. 
There were 74 new recruiters for the placements of the 2015-2017 batch hence reaffirming the industry's faith in IIM Indore. There was a 27% increase in the number of PPOs offered which reflects the capability of the students.

IIM-I Summer Placements
The summer placement for the batch of 2016-2018 was successfully completed. The batch of around 561 students(with IPM students also included) was the largest batch across all the IIMs. Over 170 companies participated in the summer placements this year.
