IIM Nagpur MBA Admission Process: 3 Stages Explained

The IIM Nagpur MBA 2026 admission process consists of three clearly defined stages, as outlined in the official admissions policy.

The table below summarises each stage of the IIM Nagpur admission process, the evaluation method used, and the key criteria candidates need to meet at each step.

Stage 1: CAT 2025 Cutoff Screening

Candidates must clear IIM Nagpur's sectional and overall CAT 2025 percentile cutoffs to proceed further. A positive score (>0) in each section, Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA), is mandatory.

Candidates who clear Stage 1 receive an email from IIM Nagpur and must then fill the application form before the deadline to advance.

Stage 2: Shortlisting Score (SS) for PI Call

In Stage 2, a Shortlisting Score is computed for all candidates who have filled the application form and met CAT cutoffs. The SS is based on the candidate's CAT 2025 score and Gender Diversity Index (GDI). Candidates with sufficiently high Shortlisting Scores receive a call for Personal Interviews in Stage 3.

Stage 3: Personal Interview and Final Score Computation

Candidates shortlisted for Stage 3 attend a Personal Interview (PI) conducted independently by IIM Nagpur, the institute does not use scores from other IIMs or the CAP (Common Admission Process). An Extempore round may also be included as part of the PI.

The Final Score (FS) is a composite of multiple parameters:

• CAT Score: Normalised from the candidate's total CAT score relative to the highest eligible score
• Past Academic Performance (PAP): Based on marks in 10th, 12th, and Undergraduate examinations, each assigned Rating A, B, or C, with PAP = 1% of Rating A + 2% of Rating B + 3% of Rating C
• Work Experience (WE): Based on total months of full-time paid post-graduation work experience as of 31 January 2026. Only full-time, paid employment is counted, internships, CA articleship, stipend-based roles, and pre-graduation experience are excluded
• Gender Diversity Index (GDI): Considered to promote diversity in the batch
• Personal Interview (PI) Score
