IIM Jammu - IPM Admission 2027, Fees, Eligibility, Dates

Imagine joining an IIM straight from Class 12, spending five years there, and coming out with a full MBA without ever sitting for CAT. That is exactly the opportunity that comes with IIM Jammu IPM admission (Integrated Program in Management).

But here is something that makes IIM Jammu's IPM stand out from most other IIM IPM programs. There is no Personal Interview round. You do not have to face a panel of professors for an interview. Your merit list is built purely on your JIPMAT score and your Class 10 and Class 12 marks. That is it. One exam, two sets of marks, and a merit list. If your numbers are good, you get in.

IIM Jammu was set up by the MoE, Government of India, and currently operates from a transit campus in Jammu, with its permanent campus coming up. It also runs a separate campus in Srinagar. The IPM program is a five-year, full-time residential course that blends science, social science, and management subjects, with the final aim of integrating management education with STEM. Students study BBA-level subjects for the first three years and then move into the MBA in years 4 and 5.

This guide brifly gives you all the details for IIM Jammu IPM Admission 2027, like the eligibility, exam pattern, fees, admission process, and much more. All information provided here is officially verified from iimj.ac.in.

What Makes IIM Jammu IPM Different?

Before you start preparing, it is worth understanding how this programme is different from the other IIM IPM options.

How Do You Apply? The Admission Process, Step by Step

The process for IIM Jammu IPM admission is refreshingly straightforward. There is no Group Discussion, no Writing Test, and no Personal Interview. Here is exactly what happens.

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

Before you do anything else, make sure you meet the basic eligibility rules. Read the eligibility section below carefully.

Step 2: Register for JIPMAT

Visit the official NTA JIPMAT website, exams.nta.ac.in/JIPMAT, to register. Fill in your personal and academic details, pay the JIPMAT application fee, and submit your form before the last date. You will get a JIPMAT application number and hall ticket from NTA.

Step 3: Appear for JIPMAT

Sit for the JIPMAT exam on the date specified by NTA. The exam runs for 150 minutes, covers three sections, and is held at centres across India. Once done, NTA releases scores and percentiles.

Step 4: Wait for IIM Jammu’s Shortlist

IIM Jammu then looks at your JIPMAT percentile across all three sections. Candidates who meet the minimum sectional percentile cutoffs for their category are placed in the eligible pool. See the cutoff table in the Exam Pattern section below.

Step 5: IIM Jammu Prepares the Merit List

From the eligible pool, IIM Jammu calculates a composite score: JIPMAT percentile carries 70 percent weight, your Class 10 marks carry 15 percent, and your Class 12 marks carry 15 percent. A category-wise merit list is prepared, and admission offers are made in order.

Step 6: Accept the Offer and Pay the Acceptance Fee

If you receive an offer, you must pay Rs 50,000 as an Offer Acceptance Amount by the date mentioned in the offer letter. This amount is adjusted against your Semester I fee, so it is not an extra cost. If you later decide to withdraw before the registration date, Rs 49,000 is refunded (Rs 1,000 is kept as processing charges). After registration, no refund is possible.

The JIPMAT Exam: What Will You Actually Face?

JIPMAT stands for Joint Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test. It is run by NTA, the same body that runs JEE and NEET. Unlike IPMAT Indore, JIPMAT has a Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning section instead of a short-answer Quant section. There is also no sectional time limit, meaning you can move freely between sections and manage your own time across the full 150 minutes.

Section

What Will You Actually Study?

The IPM at IIM Jammu is designed around three pillars: science, social science, and management, with the underlying goal of bringing STEM thinking into management education. The programme uses a semester-based structure across five years.

In the first three years, you study a mix of mathematics, statistics, economics, behavioural science, and foundational management subjects. The idea is to build both analytical depth and broad-based thinking before you step into the core MBA curriculum. Per NEP 2020, you can exit at the end of each of the first three years and receive a certificate, diploma, or BBA degree based on the credits completed. If you stay on and complete all five years, you graduate with a BBA plus MBA dual degree.

From year 4, you join the MBA programme directly, studying the same curriculum as the regular MBA batch, with access to the same faculty, electives, and placement support.

What Happens After You Graduate? Placements

Since the IPM programme at IIM Jammu is still in its early batches, a separate IPM-specific placement report has not yet been published. IPM students will join the MBA batch for placements in years 4 and 5, participating in the same placement drives as the regular MBA students. IIM Jammu publishes its MBA placement data on its official website and at placements.iimj.ac.in. For the most current placement figures, always refer directly to iimj.ac.in rather than third-party sources, since early-stage programme placement data is particularly prone to being misquoted.

If you are someone who prepares well for exams but feels less confident in interview settings, IIM Jammu is the only major IIM IPM option with no PI round at all. That is a real, structural advantage. The trade-off is that you are giving up the chance to improve your rank at the interview stage, so your JIPMAT score and school marks need to do all the work.

FAQs About IIM Jammu

No. IIM Jammu does not hold a Personal Interview for IPM admission. The merit list is prepared purely based on your JIPMAT percentile (70%) and your Class 10 and 12 marks (15% each). This makes it the only IIM in this series where your interview skills are not a factor.

You need to appear for JIPMAT, the Joint Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This is different from the IPMAT used by IIM Indore, IIM Ranchi, and others. For 2026, JIPMAT was held on June 7, 2026.

No. There is no compulsory subject requirement. Students from Science, Commerce, and Arts backgrounds are all eligible to apply.

The official dates have not been announced. Based on the 2026 pattern, the JIPMAT registration is expected to open around February or March 2027 on the NTA website and the IIM Jammu website.

Based on the last officially published fee structure (2025–30 batch), the first three years cost approximately Rs. 20.38 lakh in total. Years 4 and 5 are charged at the prevailing MBA fee at that time. There is also a refundable caution deposit of Rs. 50,000 and a separate mess charge billed at actuals.

If you complete all five years, you get both a BBA and an MBA, making it a dual degree. Under NEP 2020, if you exit earlier, you can leave with a certificate (Year 1), diploma (Year 2), or BBA (Year 3), without your earlier effort going to waste.

No. Neither NTA nor IIM Jammu prescribes an age limit for the JIPMAT exam or for IPM admission. This is a difference from IIM Amritsar, which has a 20-year age limit for its IPM.

Yes. Students appearing in their Class 12 board exams in 2027 are eligible to apply. If you receive an offer, your admission will be provisional until you submit your Class 12 mark sheet by the deadline mentioned in the offer letter.

Yes. Applicants from international schools affiliated with foreign boards like IGCSE and IB can also apply, as specifically mentioned in the official IIM Jammu IPM admission policy.

IPMAT is conducted individually by IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak and is used by IIM Indore, IIM Ranchi, IIM Amritsar, and others. JIPMAT is conducted by NTA on behalf of IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. The two exams have different patterns, are held on different dates, and require separate registrations. You cannot use an IPMAT score for IIM Jammu, or a JIPMAT score for IIM Indore or IIM Ranchi.
