General English

Just like last year, the section had two passages but with only 6 questions in total. The section was dominated by vocabulary and grammar-based questions, with questions coming from antonyms and synonyms, fill in the blanks, idioms and phrases. Questions from grammar covered areas of Prepositions, Proverbs etc. There was a question on analogy too. Overall, students found the section to be easy. A score of 30-32 can be considered good in this section.

Quantitative Aptitude

This section had two sets of Data Interpretation with 6 questions which were easy. Like last year, the questions were largely from Arithmetic. Questions were asked from Profit, Loss and Discount, Simple and Compound Interest, Time and Work, Time, Speed and Distance, Partnership etc. The level of difficulty can be summed up slightly moderate. A score of 25-27 can be considered good in this section.

General Awareness

Unlike 2018, this year the GK section had approximately more than 60% questions coming from Static GK. However, the questions were easy, and one could easily sail through this section, if one had followed CL GK book and Mock Tests. A good number of questions were based on science including inventions and discoveries. A score of 25-27 can be considered good in this section.

Analytical and Logical Reasoning

The section had questions from every possible area one can think of. There were questions based on series, coding-decoding, blood relations, linear equations, cause and effect, course of action, syllogisms, permutation, probability. Unlike 2018, there were no sets on arrangements. Most students found the section to be easier, unlike last year. A score of 18-20 can be considered good in this section.

Overall analysis

Overall, the difficulty level of the paper was from easy-moderate. Time constraint wasn’t so much of a factor. There was ample time especially because of the level of difficulty and the nature of the General Reasoning and some parts of the English section. The cut-off for the WAT-PI round is expected to be as follows:

Symbiosis Center for Management Studies, Pune

94-96

Symbiosis Center for Management Studies, Noida

88-90
