SET BBA 2017 Exam Analysis

The Symbiosis International University conducted its SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test) on the 6th of May, 2017.
The test is for candidates who wish to gain admission to its 3-year Degree Program in Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA).
The test featured a total of 150 questions. The four test areas were—General English, Quantitative, General Awareness, and Analytical & Logical Reasoning. The Exam does not have any negative marking. The sections were separate and were not timed individually.

Questions had 4 options where 1 mark was awarded for correct and there was no negative marking. 

General English

This section had 9-10 questions from passages. Most of these were easy in nature. The word meaning questions (synonyms and antonyms) were particularly difficult. Sentence correction,

Sentence Making, Prepositions, Verbal Analogy questions were fairly common.

The questions were mostly from based on Arithmetic. In Arithmetic, questions were asked from Profit-Loss discount and SI/CI. There were 2-3 questions from Time-Speed & Distance and two questions from Time and Work. Overall, this section was easy to moderate.

General Awareness

The difficulty level of this section was Moderate. Simple questions asking the abbreviations of institutions were asked in the paper. Easy business related questions figured into the list of questions as well. Current affairs questions were fewer as compared to static general awareness questions. There were a few questions each from Economics and Indian History.

Analytical & Logical Reasoning

In this section questions were mostly asked from Coding-Decoding, Series and Arrangement, Missing Numbers, Visual Reasoning. There were 4-5 questions from DI. Then there were questions from Dictionary Arrangement. Questions from Blood Relations also came. Verbal Logic had 2-3 questions from Statement-Assumption and Atatement-Argument. This section as compared to English and General Awareness ones was more time consuming.

Overall analysis

Overall, the difficulty level of the paper was from easy-moderate. Time constraint wasn’t so much of a factor. There was ample time especially because of the level of difficulty and the nature of the General Reasoning and some parts of the English section.
