CUET 2022 Exam Analysis

Section 1: English

English language paper in Section 1 had three passages followed by six questions each. The passages were based on “humanity & how people have stopped interacting with each other”, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and a short fiction. Most of the questions were very direct from the passage posing no difficulty for any student but a few of them had close options. The remaining paper focused on grammar and vocabulary with 2-3 questions each from Synonyms and Antonyms. The antonyms and synonyms of words like terse, pervasive etc. were asked. There were 5-6 questions from figures of Speech, in which basic questions were asked. There were 3-4 basic Para jumbles questions. There were 3-4 questions of idioms. Some of the idioms that were asked in the examination were “beat around the bush”, “look the other way”, “on cloud nine” Overall, an easy paper and students were able to complete the same within 20-25 minutes.

Section 2: Domain Subjects

Chemistry: The level of chemistry examination was easy to moderate. There were 2 passages in the examination having 5 questions each. The passages were on Grignard reagent and cathode & anode reaction in a galvanic cell. Questions from the passage on Grignard reagent focused on the product of reactions and the questions from the second passage were basic numerical and theory. The paper had 5-6 questions on the effect of heat on a reaction, questions like “if the temperature is increased by 20 degrees Celsius, how many times will the rate of reaction increase”, “effect of heat on the yield of a given reaction” were asked. There were 3-4 questions from the topic of structures, where questions were mostly about the defects in a structure. There were questions about the IUPAC and chemical names of various substances such as ores and other elements. There were 5-6 numerical only.

Chemical kinetics had 5 questions and was the single most important chapter. D block and coordination compound were also significant. However, the questions were easy, what is the formula and the colour of manganate ion, how many ions are formed during hydrolysis etc.

In organic, the question was easy. Reduction of acid halide, diazonium compounds, formation of picnic acid, products of cumene process were some of the questions.

Physics: The level of physics examination was again easy to moderate. There were 2 passages in the examination having 5 questions each. The passages were about Bohr’s model and its relevance & cells. The questions were basic numerical and theoretical questions. A lot of focus was given on induced current and magnetic field. Around 7-8 questions from these topics were there, most of these questions were theoretical but there were a few numerical as well. Another topic which was given decent weightage was optics having 3-4 questions (mostly numerical). There were questions about the usage of different devices such as amplifiers, half wave rectifiers, full wave rectifiers, antennas, telescopes etc. Basic characteristics of phenomenon like magnetic field, electric flux was asked. Overall, a student with good understanding of concepts and formulas would easily attempt 40 out of 50 questions.

A lot of questions involving solenoid were there. Torque on a square circuit Ina a magnetic field. Youngs double slit also had 3 questions.

Section 3: General Test

The general awareness section focused more on static general knowledge but had a decent number of questions of current affairs as well. Questions like “who won the best actor in drama award at golden globes award” were asked. Match the following questions of books & Authors, Nobel Prize laureates and their areas, days (World elephant day, world tiger day) with their dates were asked. Numeral ability had basic questions of time and if one had practiced well, they would have found the questions easy to solve. Questions were based on geometry, time and work, time, speed and distance, HCF, Common factor, Trigonometry, BODMAS, Area, Simple Interest, Percentages were easy and one would have definitely felt elated. Reasoning has a couple of questions on Visual reasoning, set theory, blood relations, coding, directions, analogy-based questions.
