The Importance of General Awareness in IPMAT
Given the vast syllabus of the IPMAT, it is important to carefully select vital topics to prepare for the exam.
The three main sections of the IPMAT exam are:
> Quantitative Ability (MCQ)
> Quantitative Ability (Short Answer)
> Verbal Ability
The IPMAT 2024 syllabus sums up the section-wise topics that students are required to prepare for the exam. Having a clear awareness of the IPMAT syllabus is a crucial part of the IPMAT preparation strategy. Nevertheless, the IIM Indore doesn't provide any explicit syllabus on what the candidates need to prepare for IPMAT 2024, however, just like the previous years, the questions will be asked from the three main sections. Students must be aware of the topics to study for the examination by also referring to old question papers. The IPMAT question paper will consist of MCQs and short answer-type questions as well. The weight can vary each year for the questions and topics in all three sections. So to crack the IPMAT exam, students must completely know the entire IPMAT syllabus. They should have conceptual and fundamental clarity.
Apart from the three main sections, students are most likely to be also asked about academic-related issues hence, it is a good idea to go through all concepts from class 10 to 12 and work on your General Knowledge. It is possible that the panelists will ask you plenty of tricky questions, mostly in that area.
While it is clear that the IPMAT doesn’t include a general knowledge section, it is still necessary in order to clear the PI (Personal Interview) round to get admission to a five-year integrated program. It is a common mistake committed by candidates, which is failing to prepare for the general awareness part. Candidates often fail to realize the importance of GK in the IPMAT exam. So to prepare for general awareness, one should regularly read newspapers and check news portals online, get acquainted with current affairs, and most importantly, prepare briefly about the ongoing hot topics.
