Best IPM College in India - IIMs and Other Top Colleges

The first IIM to launch the IPM in 2011, IIM Indore set the standard for undergraduate management education in India. It is also often considered the best IPM college in India. The five-year program awards a BA (Foundations of Management) and an MBA under the IIM Act 2017. IIM Indore IPM students participate in joint placements with the PGP (MBA) batch. The program includes a Student Exchange, Business Internship, and Himalaya Outbound Program across its 15 terms. The final selection is based on the entrance test “IPMAT Indore” and is determined by IPMAT Score (65%) + Personal Interview (35%).

IIM Ranchi launched its IPM in 2021 and admits students through IPMAT Indore scores, requiring a separate application to IIM Ranchi. The five-year residential program has a multidisciplinary foundation in the first four terms before transitioning to core business subjects. Students who exit after Year 3 receive a BBA. IIM Ranchi final IPM selection is based on IPMAT Score (50%) + Personal Interview (30%) + Academic Profile (20%) + Gender Diversity Bonus (5%).

IIM Amritsar offers a unique five-year integrated program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Finance and Economics (BSQFE) combined with an MBA — the only IIM program to award a B.Sc. rather than a BBA, designed specifically for students with strong quantitative and mathematical interests. A separate application to IIM Amritsar is required after appearing for IPMAT Indore. Final selection is based on IPMAT Score (70%) + Personal Interview (25%) + Gender Diversity (5%).

Note: Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is compulsory in Class XII for the IPM program at IIM Amritsar.

Established in 2007, IIM Shillong is a fully autonomous public management institution consistently ranked among India’s top business schools. It launched its IPM with the 2025 batch, admitting students through IPMAT Indore scores. The Personal Interview carries 50% weightage in IIM Shillong’s IPM selection formula — the highest PI weightage of any IPM institution — making interview preparation especially critical for aspirants. A separate application to IIM Shillong is required. Final selection is based on X Marks (10%) + XII Marks (10%) + IPMAT Score (30%) + Personal Interview (50%).

Note: Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is compulsory in Class XII for the IPM program at IIM Shillong.

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) Kakinada offers a five-year integrated program leading to a BBA in Business Analytics combined with an MBA in International Business — the only IPM program in India with a dedicated focus on international trade & business analytics. A separate application to IIFT Kakinada is required after appearing for IPMAT Indore. Final selection is based on IPMAT Score (78%) + Academic Profile Class X (20%) + Gender Diversity (2%).

Note: Mathematics, Business Mathematics, or Applied Mathematics is compulsory in Class XII.

NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad — one of India’s premier law schools — offers a five-year Integrated Program in Management. NALSAR accepts either IPMAT Indore scores or scores from its own NMET (UG) entrance test, giving students two admission routes. The intake includes 50 All India seats and 16 Telangana Domicile seats, with 30% horizontal reservation for female candidates. A separate application to NALSAR is required. Final selection is based on Entrance Exam (75%) + Personal Interview (25%).

Nirma University, Ahmedabad, offers a five-year IPM with one of the largest intakes among all IPMAT-accepting institutions outside the IIMs — 156 All-India seats and 84 Gujarat State seats. Gujarat state candidates who have passed Class 12 from schools within Gujarat with a minimum of 90% marks can gain admission without appearing for any entrance exam. A separate application to Nirma University is required. Final selection: IPMAT Score (50%) + Class XII Marks (20%) + Personal Interview (30%).

T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal, accepts the widest range of entrance exam scores of any IPM institution — IPMAT Indore, JIPMAT, JEE (Main), CLAT, SAT, and MET (Manipal Entrance Test) — making it one of the most accessible IPM options in the country. A separate application to TAPMI is required. Final selection considers academic profile (Class X and XII), English proficiency, entrance test score, Personal Interview and micro-presentation, extracurricular activities, and gender diversity. Maximum 2 years gap after Class XII is permitted.

Krea University’s IFMR Graduate School of Business offers an undergraduate program blending business, economics, mathematics, and technology. Krea accepts IPMAT Indore scores, SAT, JEE (Main), or its own Krea Aptitude Test (KAT). The 2026 intake was 80 seats. Candidates must meet the EWS category cut-off specified by IIM Indore (for IPMAT), IITs (for JEE), or Krea’s own KAT benchmark. All shortlisted candidates appear for an Online Personal Interview.

IIM Rohtak introduced its IPM in 2019 and conducts its own entrance test - IPMAT Rohtak, which is completely different from IIM Indore's exam.

The exam tests Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability across 120 questions in 120 minutes. Final selection is based on IPMAT Score (55%) + Class X Marks (10%) + Class XII Marks (20%) + Personal Interview (15%).

IIM Jammu launched its IPM in 2021 and admits through JIPMAT, conducted by NTA. There is no Personal Interview. Selection is based on JIPMAT Score (95%) + Gender Diversity (5%), after clearing sectional cut-offs. IIM Jammu strictly follows Government of India reservation norms. All official offer letters are issued only from ipm.admissions@iimj.ac.in.

IIM Bodh Gaya launched its IPM in 2021 alongside IIM Jammu, both admitted through a single JIPMAT application. There is no Personal Interview. Admission is 100% JIPMAT score-based after clearing sectional cut-offs. One JIPMAT application gives you a simultaneous shot at both IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya.

Christ University, Bengaluru, offers a five-year integrated BBA + MBA program called the iMBA through its own entrance test - CU-IBMAT (Christ University Integrated BBA-MBA Admission Test). The program is open to students from any stream across all recognised Boards. IB curriculum students require 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits; GCE/Edexcel students require a minimum of 3 A-levels with grade C or above. Candidates appearing in Class XII in March-May 2027 may apply using Class X and XI marks.
