Is the general test compulsory for everyone in the CUET exam?

CUET (Common University Entrance Test) has 3 different sections, those are namely -
• Language (33 options)
• Domain Subjects (27)
• General Test (GT)
Any student who is appearing for CUET 2023, needs to choose a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 subjects from the available list of 61 options combining all three sections.
Now, to answer the query - No, General Test is not compulsory for everyone who will be writing the CUET. It completely depends upon the program which you're applying for & university you are interested in for admission. Whether you have to take it or not depends on the specific requirements of the university & course you want to apply to.
There is some confusion among students that General Test is required for all programs in the CUET (UG). But actually, only 60% (approximately) of the UG programs need General Test as eligibility criteria. Even if the program you're interested in doesn't require the General Test, you can still choose to take it for the remaining 40% of programs as taking the General Test can be helpful because scoring well in this section can improve your chances of getting accepted into your desired university.
Hence, it's important to understand the exam structure and requirements and prepare for each section properly.
