Tezpur University: It was established in 1994 by an Act of Parliament, with the objective to offer employment-driven multi-disciplinary programs and promote research. Tezpur University is NAAC accredited with an “A” grade and was ranked 59 in NIRF 2022.
Tezpur University is in Assam and was established with a mission to create programs to meet the local and regional aspirations, along with the development needs of Assam.

Tezpur University, being focussed on research offers specialised and limited programs at the undergraduate level. The programs are offered mostly as Integrated Programs.

All the integrated programs (M. Sc, M. Com, and M. A) offer lateral exit after three years. Tezpur University also offers B. Tech Programs, admissions to which are based on JEE (Mains).

Tezpur University UG Programs Eligibility

Each of the courses has different eligibility for admissions. To be eligible for admission, one must fulfill all the criteria as laid down by the respective faculties of the University.

Integrated M. Com: First Division in the Higher Secondary (10+2) School Final Examinations.
Integrated M. A. English: First Division in the Higher Secondary (10+2) School Final Examinations.
Integrated M. Sc. Chemistry: First Division in the Higher Secondary (10+2) School Final Examinations in Science.
Integrated M. Sc. Physics: First Division in the Higher Secondary (10+2) School Final Examinations in Science.
Integrated M. Sc. Mathematical Sciences: First Division in the Higher Secondary (10+2) School Final Examinations in Science.

Tezpur University UG Admissions

Until 2020, admissions to Tezpur University UG courses were based on TU Entrance Examination (TUEE) conducted by the University. From the academic year 2022 onwards, admissions to UG programs offered by Tezpur University will be based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), which will replace the TUEE. CUET will be a common entrance for admissions to UG programs offered by 45 Central and many other state, private, and deemed universities in the country.

Tezpur University UG Programs Reservation:

Tezpur University being a Central University offers reservations in admissions according to central government rules.

Schedule Caste (SC): 15% of the total seats are reserved for students who belong to the SC category.
Schedule Tribe (ST): 7.5% of the total seats are reserved for students belonging to the ST category.
Other Backward Classes (OBC): 27% of the total intake is reserved for students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), excluding those from the creamy layer. Also, the Central List of Caste is to be followed.
Economically Weaker Section (EWS): The University has reserved 10% seats for the EWS category, in accordance with the directive of the Ministry of Education.
Persons with Disability (PWD): 5% of the seats are reserved on a horizontal basis for students from the PWD category.

In a move that could be a potential game-changer for higher education in India, the government has decided to conduct a Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the 45 Central Universities and 90 Universities in total, from the academic session 2022-23.
