Negative marking applies to all MCQ-type questions across IPMAT Indore, IPMAT Rohtak, and JIPMAT. For every incorrect MCQ answer, 1 mark is deducted (-1). Unattempted questions carry no penalty.
The only exception is the Short Answer (SA) section in IPMAT Indore; incorrect or blank SA answers receive 0 marks with no deduction. This makes it strategically important to attempt every SA question, even when unsure of the exact answer.
Guessing strategy: Attempt MCQs only when reasonably confident, at least 50% certainty. For SA questions, always attempt since there is no downside.
Clearing the aptitude test cutoffs is only the first stage. How each institution weighs the aptitude score alongside other selection criteria is outlined below.

Understanding the IPMAT exam pattern is incomplete without knowing the topic-wise syllabus for each section.
For the detailed IPMAT syllabus, check the linked article.
Aspirants are required to meet the minimum eligibility criteria of 60% in Class 12 to be eligible to take the IPMAT-Indore, Rohtak & JIPMAT exams.
IPMAT & JIPMAT exams are computer-based exams, conducted online in the allotted centers.
It's only in IPMAT-Indore that there are two kinds of questions: MCQ-type and SA-type; otherwise, both IPMAT-Rohtak and JIPMAT follow a CAT exam-like structure with three sections, namely, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation, & Verbal Ability.
The JIPMAT exam has 100 questions, which are expected to be solved in 150 minutes. Whereas, both IPMAT-Indore and IPMAT-Rohtak exams last for 2 hours and have 90 and 120 questions, respectively.
IPMAT-Indore has 90 questions, which are spread across two areas: Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability. Within the Quantitative section of the IPMAT-Indore exam, two internal sections contain MCQ-type and SA-type questions.
