Understanding the paper patterns for IPMAT exams
Students who aspire to get into the 5-year Integrated Programme in Management in IIM Indore, Rohtak, Ranchi, Amritsar, Shillong, Jammu, and Bodh Gaya have to appear and qualify for the IPMAT-Indore, IPMAT-Rohtak, & JIPMAT tests.
The scores in IPMAT-Indore, IPMAT-Rohtak, and JIPMAT dictate a student’s chances of getting admission into the IPM Programme. The IPMAT selection procedure is multi-fold, but is different across the different IIMs taking admissions for IPM.
Candidates will be selected based on their overall Aptitude Test performance and academic records.
While the aim of every IPM entrance examination below is majorly similar, the structure of the exams may differ from exam to exam.

IPMAT-Indore is a computer-based test; hence, it is conducted in an online mode. The duration of IPMAT 2026 will be 120 minutes, i.e. 2 hours. For each section, 40 minutes will be allotted.

IPMAT-Rohtak exam is usually scheduled around the same time as Indore and is categorized into three sections, namely, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability.
Each section contains 40 questions, making it an exam having a total of 120 questions. Unlike IPMAT-Indore, the exam is entirely in the MCQ format.

JIPMAT exam follows a similar exam pattern to IPMAT-Rohtak, having three comprehensive sections, namely, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability.
Both Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning have 33 questions each, while Verbal Ability has a total of 34 questions, making it an exam having a total of 100 questions. Much like IPMAT-Rohtak, the JIPMAT exam consists only of MCQ-type questions.

Thanks to the difference in the total number of questions in the IPM entrance exams, the total marks that can be attained by a student also differs.

With almost 12 months remaining for IPMAT-Indore, aspirants are actively seeking tips to get that headstart in their IPMAT & JIPMAT preparation journey.
While many aspirants land on the option of online IPMAT coaching to seek structure in their school and IPM preparation, many also choose to study for the exams on their own.
We have a few preparation tips for both of the groups discussed above:
Aspirants are required to meet the minimum eligibility criteria of 60% in Class 12 to be eligible to take the IPMAT-Indore, Rohtak & JIPMAT exams.
IPMAT & JIPMAT exams are computer-based exams, conducted online in the allotted centers.
It's only in IPMAT-Indore that there are two kinds of questions: MCQ-type and SA-type; otherwise, both IPMAT-Rohtak and JIPMAT follow a CAT exam-like structure with three sections, namely, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation, & Verbal Ability.
The JIPMAT exam has 100 questions, which are expected to be solved in 150 minutes. Whereas, both IPMAT-Indore and IPMAT-Rohtak exams last for 2 hours and have 90 and 120 questions, respectively.
IPMAT-Indore has 90 questions, which are spread across two areas: Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability. Within the Quantitative section of the IPMAT-Indore exam, two internal sections contain MCQ-type and SA-type questions.
